Twenty Six Jelly Babies

"The greatest pleasure in life, is doing the things people say we cannot do."- Walter Bagehot

Why?

I am running to keep fit- but also to raise money for Asthma UK.

There are currently 5.4 million people in the UK suffering from asthma..... 80,000 people are admitted to hospital each year because of their asthma and sadly while 90% of asthma deaths are preventable 3 people die every day. 250,000 people in the UK have severe asthma which means they do not respond to conventional treatment, Asthma UK fund research into medication as well as providing support and a wealth of information to sufferers.

Their vision is "Control over asthma today, freedom from asthma tomorrow"
Their mission is "Improving the health and well-being of people with asthma by building and sharing expertise about asthma."

You can visit their website to find out more at: http://www.asthma.org.uk/

I was diagnosed with Asthma as a child and thankfully with medication I am able to control my symptoms and live a normal life (which includes running) I couldn't do this without my fantastic Asthma nurse and the support which I have always been given. Everyone has bad days, but I know I will always have the medication and advice I need whenever I need it.

I am running to raise money but also for myself- I have signed up for Brighton marathon in 2013 and many races before in preparation.......If that doesn't test my inhalers I dont know what will :-)

I am keeping this blog as a diary for myself and also to log the trials and tribulations of training for a marathon... I promise to always be honest....I will share the highs and lows, the tears and the laughs....And of course the photos.

Thank you for reading x
